Goa government today assured to monitor the rising prices of the vegetables and provide relief in the form of subsidy.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the state Legislative Assembly that the government is in the process of drafting a scheme to provide subsidy to farmers who produce vegetables in the state.
Even if vegetable prices soar, the people would not face the brunt, he assured.
The rates will remain constant even if the overall prices shoot up, he added.
Parrikar said the outlets of Goa State Horticulture Corporation Limited, a state run agency, will be utilised to control the rates by providing subsidy on vegetables.
These outlets purchase vegetables from the farmers in the state.
The Chief Minister said till the time the scheme is drafted and implemented, the state agencies will be asked to monitor the market rates of vegetables.
