Monitor Ram Sene if can't ban: Cong

Days after Sri Ram Sene expressed its plans set up a branch in Goa, the Congress party today demanded that the Manohar Parrikar government should monitor the movement of the right wing since it was not possible to ban the outfit in the state.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee's working president Fransisco Sardinha said the ban on the organisation cannot be a solution because then they could restart activities in some other name.
"I don't know whether they can be legally banned but their movement should be totally monitored," he told reporters here.
Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muttalik had recently revealed his plan to open branches of the organisation in Goa.
Muttalik had said the organisation will be opposing "pub culture" and that they will not resort to violence but will create awareness against it. Sardinha said Sene should not be forcing their beliefs on others.
"You are free to follow different beliefs but you are not free to impose your ideas on others," he commented.
To a question, Sardinha, a senior parliamentarian, refused to demand monitoring of Sene's movement across India.
"I am concerned about Goa. Let us talk of Goa first," he said. Sri Ram Sene hit the media headlines in 2009 when its activists attacked a group of women in a pub in Mangalore, Karnataka.

I believe nothing is wrong if the sena wants to make people 'AWARE' of pub culture but the problem arises if they try to impose their belief on us than matters have to be taken in our own hands, after all the lesson that they learnt in mangalore after the little stunt should make them wise now, i dont just believe in blackening people face to make my point. I love my goa the way it is.

"You are free to follow different beliefs but you are not free to impose your ideas on others" says Sardinha. Then why does he want to impose his ideas on BJP? If India is a Secular country and Ram Sena is disturbing secular fabric, shouldn't it be banned in India. Can Sardinha not ask Congress Govt. that rules India to take a firm stand against Ram Sena? If Congress cannot do much to curb activities of Ram Sena in India, how can we expect BJP to do a better job in Goa? Why refuse to DEMAND monitoring of Sene's movement across India?
