CM puts on hold controversial appointments

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has put on hold the appointments made by the erstwhile Congress government allegedly in contravention of the model code of conduct in place for the just-concluded Assembly elections.

"The appointments made before and after the poll code came into effect, besides the interviews and written tests conducted to fill vacancies in various government departments are hereby put on hold till further directions", a circular issued by the Principal Secretary, General Administration, said.

Digambar Kamat-led government allegedly violated the election code by issuing appointment letters and offer letters to as many as 600 youth and also conducted their interviews when the model code was in force.

Parrikar government has directed the concerned authorities to keep the positions on hold till further directions.

A senior bureaucrat was suspended and inquiry was initiated against six officers by the Election Commission for violating the code of conduct after the BJP had complained about the alleged breach of rules by Kamat government.

The Election Commission had reserved orders on the issue as the model code was in force. Parrikar government wrested the state from Congress after defeating it in the landslide victory in March 3 polls.

As per the circular, the appointments made prior to the poll code kicked in but are awaiting personal verification and medical examination will be on hold.

Also those who were given pre-dated offer of appointments will also have to wait for government stand on the recruitments.

job appointments made by ex govt ministers is nothing more than laring the voters which himself is code of conduct.wel every one will agree that a 70 % govt servant is wasting thier time & tax payers money.. if new led govt is able to make them work for they are paid for, is more neccesary than adding more staff..Awareness in self contribution in clean govt should be the priority given by the BJP govt

The Chief Minister has taken very prompt action on the appopintments made prior to poll code but I have only one concern to share as to whether our new Chief Minister will generate new jobs based on merits or only the same policy of how much I know him and how much I get. We have yet to wait and watch and watch very closely since the earlier past two terms of our new CM indicate a total different sinario than what he is preaching now.

Let us wait and watch.

The huge Army of 47 thousand employees expanded to over 57 thousand for a small State like Goa....A shamelessly huge proportion by any standards...More th bureaucracy and more the number of employees---more is the red tape and more is the harassment to common man and more has to be the greasing the palms....Who has given the right to the Politicians to create such huge recurring liability on the tax payers and the future generations...Better would be to examine the whole issue correctly and scrap the unwanted posts...Visit any Govt Office and see for yourself how the people employed by the tax payer, are wasting their time....

Let the money taken in auction of the jobs be recovered by those who have paid for it..
