Yash Johar remembered

The Goa Film Festival witnessed an emotional moment yesterday while megastar Amitabh Bacchan opened Indian Retrospective section by paying tributes to Yash Johar.

Both Bacchan as well as Karan Johar went on emotional tone, recalling qualities of Yash Johar.

“No doubt Yashji was a brilliant filmmaker. But more than that he was a great human being”, said Bacchan, recalling how he always helped people in distress in the film industry.

The 35th International Film Festival in India is screening five of Yash Johar’s super hit films – Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum, Kal Ho Na Ho, Dostana and Agneepath.

“It’s a mixed feeling for me at this moment. I am happy that my father is being honoured. But I am also feeling sad as it brings back all the memories of my father”, said his son Karan, in a choked voice.

Bacchan was also feeling honoured by opening Yash Johar retrospective section as it was Yash Johar’s Dharma Production film Agneepath that awarded National Award to Bacchan for the first time.

Yash Johar’s first hit Dostana was also featuring Amitabh and Shatrughna Sinha. Incidentally, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum, his last film also features Amitabh and Jaya.

“Yashji gifted the industry with several good films. But his greatest gift to us is Karan, who is following his father’s footsteps with his sensitivity as well as talent”, said Amitabh amidst applause.
