BJP to keep LPG price static for 5 yrs

PTI, PANAJI | 26 February 2012 23:45 IST

Adding another populist promise to the election manifesto, BJP today said it would keep the domestic gas cylinder rates in Goa stable for the next five years.

Manohar Parrikar, who is leading the party for the Goa assembly polls, said the gas cylinder prices will not be hiked for the next five years.

"This is one assurance we give to the middle class citizens," Parrikar said, addressing a corner meeting in his constituency, Panaji.

BJP has already promised to reduce petrol prices by Rs 11.5 per litre if voted to power.

The corrupt in power never talk of the huge taxes on the Petrol, diesel and the LPG. These taxes give them an easy means of collecting huge revenues to loot and misuse on foreign jaunts. What is the need for a Minister to charter a full Plane for frequent jaunts to Foreign Countries? They need to learn the austerity measure so as to save misuse of Public funds.....Then definitely the taxes on the Petroleum products can be lowered to give due relief to the common man...

Manohar is making a lot of promises (typical of Indian politicians). Are these from his own hat or the BJPs? I hope he/they will be able to keep those lofty promises if they come to power (they should at least for the next four years).

Anyway, BJP should also spell out austerity measures they are going to take to secure the economic future of Goa. Like the size of cabinet, looting of the corporations, wastage, foreign trips of the minsters and government baboos and karmcharis, etc.

I wonder where from all the money is going to come to provide checks to housewives, unemployed and the like. Security benefits to deserving old folks is OK, but don't just promise checks for the young but also ways in which they will be able to earn lively hood.
