Audhut Timblo inaugurating Yuva Mahotsav
Fomento Industries Chairman Auduth Timblo has appealed to the youth of Goa not to sell their votes and elect corrupt people in the forthcoming Assembly election.
He inaugurated the 17th Goa Yuva Mahotsav at Government College in Quepem today morning, attended by over 5000 students and youth.
Prior to inauguration, several groups of students had paraded, projecting Goan folk lore and also creative forms. Students of Government College of Khandola had paraded wearing Gandhi caps with a common slogan – go out and vote.
Referring to this slogan, Timblo said it was not enough just to vote but vote a right and non-corrupt candidate, in order to save our democracy.
Referring to Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption crusade and that people are supreme in the Republic of India, Timblo reminded the students that Republic means public coming out repeatedly, when democracy demands.
He thus appealed to the youths to be alert and exercise Re-Public, as and when necessary in order to save the nation from corruption and take it ahead towards progress and development.
Yuva Mahotsav working president Rajdeep Naik appealed to the youth to spread the message of having primary education in mother tongue or ‘regional language’.
He also demanded that six papers of Konkani be introduced at college level.
Konkani Bhasha Mandal president Prashant Naik appealed to the student not to fall prey to negativism but think positively while saying No to unjust things happening in the society.
He was specifically referring to the opposition to the educational project like National Institute of Technology in Loliem in Canacona taluka.
Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Naik and others also spoke on the occasion.
The Yuva Mahotsav would conduct several competitions related to performing art, but in a creative manner in two days, related to folk dances, Konkani pop, singing, street plays and other forms of theatre, oratory as well as making film on a mobile phone.
