BJP not to declare its candidates soon

Bharatiya Janata party today said it was not in a hurry to declare the list of candidates for the Goa assembly polls.

Goa BJP chief, Laxmikant Parsekar, said here that the party was being cautious, hence the delay in coming out with the list.

"Why should we open our cards? We are not afraid of rebellions, but we are being careful," Parsekar said, talking to reporters.

In the run-up to the March 3 polls, the party has admitted several outside leaders into its fold.

As to the alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), he said talks were still going on.

When asked whether BJP high command's decision not to allow Sripad Naik, an MP, to contest assembly election would affect the party's prospects, Parsekar refused to comment.

Earlier reports had said that Naik would head the party in the assembly polls, but later he was asked to stay in Delhi.

A section of leaders in the party has been projecting Manohar Parrikar as candidate for the Chief Minister's post.

Let the Goan mind do the coming to the conclusion. By now they have studied as to how it all works. Spoon fed intelligence in small quantities to suit your position, might be an insult to Goans' intelligence. We all work with the majority or the mandate that is given. We will wait and watch. The foundations of the major parties have been shaken and people have read their lips..
