Vishwajeet & Faldesai join BJP to contest
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 11 January 2012 22:03 IST

Two politicians joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest Assembly election, from Sanguem and Parye in Sattari.
Vishwajeet Krishnrao Rane, a young businessman, joined the BJP today along with around 200 workers, to cross sword with nine-time MLA Pratapsing Rane.
He even claimed that he would defeat the former chief minister and present speaker Rane by over 4000 votes.
Rane is the only politician who has won all the nine elections since he entered the electoral politics in 1972. He missed only two Assemblies of 1963 and 1967.
On the other hand, Subhash Faldesai, former ZP member, joined the BJP to contest from Sanguem constituency.
Faldesai, a former Congressman, had quit the party long ago.
Interestingly, Faldesai joined the saffron brigade in the presence of BJP’s two-time MLA Vasudev Meng Gaonkar.
“I am prepared to work for the party even without ticket, if it is denied to me”, claimed Faldesai.
Sources in the BJP however disclosed that Gaonkar would be replaced with Faldesai in the election due to former’s unpopularity.
