Goa poll on 3 March, results next day

It’s official. Goa will now go for a fresh mandate on 3 March.
Results would be declared the next day, on 4 March.
A notification in this regard would be issued on 6 February.
The code of conduct however has come into force immediately, with the announcement of Assembly election.
Chief Election Commissiaoner S Y Queresh made the announcement today evening of elections in five states – Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Prasdesh.
Except UP, all states would go for single phase elections. UP election would be in seven phases.
The election process would begin on 28 January, when Manipur would go for polling. It would end with Goa, on 3 March.
The counting of all five states however would be held together, on 4 March.
Punjab and Uttarakhand would for polling together, on 30 January.
UP election would be held in seven phases, beginning from 4 February, followed by 8, 11, 15, 19 and 23 February.
Nominations in Goa would be filed from 6 February, till 13 February. Scrutiny would be held on 14 February.
The last date of withdrawing nominations would be 16 February.
After polling on 3 March and counting on the next day, the election process would be formally completed on 9 March.
Goa has 40 constituencies with Pernem being kept reserved for scheduled caste candidate.
The term of existing Goa Assembly expires on 14 June.
Altogether 10.11 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in Goa this time at 1612 polling booths.
