BJP today alleged that the attack on two tribals in Balli village in Goa was planned, as sharp weapons and iron rods could still be found at the burnt factory in Balli, where the tribal leaders were killed last week.

Leader of Opposition in Goa Manohar Parrikar said that iron rods and sharp weapons are still lying at the gutted Adarsh Cashew Factory at Balli, 60 kms away from Panaji.

According to him, indicates that the mob was equipped with weapons for a "cruel and pre-planned act".

"The Crime Branch has not conducted a proper panchanama (crime site inspection) of the incident, as there are several evidences which are left untouched and unrecorded," Parrikar said.

He said that these evidences are yet to be collected by the investigating agency.

The agitation by United Tribals Associations Alliance (UTAA) took a grave turn when locals killed two tribal leaders, allegedly in the presence of police.

Parrikar said that both the leaders were first killed and then thrown into fire.

Manguesh Gaonkar (one of the deceased) was thrown on the burning Cashews.

"If he was alive, he would have moved and tried to escape," Parrikar said.

"Similarly another victim, Dilip Velip, was brutally injured and dumped in the toilet when the factory was on fire.

There were blood stains in the toilet. If he died of suffocation, there would not have been blood marks, Parrikar added.

He reiterated his demand for a judicial inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, tribal leader and BJP legislator Ramesh Tawadkar said that he was invited for an identification parade at the crime branch, where he identified one of his assailants.

Tawadkar, along with his wife, was also allegedly attacked by the mob.

Police sources said that they are also interrogating three suspects, picked up in connection with the death of two tribal leaders.

There is a lot of coverage by the media and privately, plus eyewitnesses. Hopefully, people will have the courage to come forward, and those who do will have protection from government agencies. A thorough unbiased inquiry will bring out facts as they occurred. Political angles should be probed too.
