The hypocricy of violence

The Congress government at the centre, in perhaps one of its  most idiotic and indefensible Rambo like missions swooped down on peaceful agitators in Delhi, at the Baba Ramdev protest site and predictably all hell has broken loose. Big time. The hysteria is frankly overwhelming.

There can be no doubt in the left liberal mind that the brutal attack, in the dead of night was abominable, cowardly and ultimately foolish. Whatever our differences and disagreements with Baba Ramdev’s prescriptions for society, we are on his side on this issue.

But serious questions need to be asked from our co-passengers on this ride of condemnation viz. the R.S.S. / BJP.  They are obviously gleefully fishing in troubled waters for the sheer political dividend this agitation will accrue to them and have rightly come out all guns blazing to condemn this outrageous act of violence on Baba’s peaceful supporters. So far so correct.

There can be no fudging and obfuscations on one vital definition in our society today.“ANY ACT OF UNPROVOKED VIOLENCE ON PEACEFUL INNOCENTS IS TERROR”. No arguments.  This is a fundamental principle that is non negotiable.

Hence, though we share this outrage with the  RSS on the Baba Ramdev issue, we need these look - yourself-in the mirror answers from the Sangh affiliates.

* When peaceful innocents in Gujarat, who happened to be Muslim, were barbarically roasted and tortured in 2002 the outrage from the sangh was not obviously visible then.  There was rationalization, there was spin, there was even secret jubilation but no outrage. When peaceful innocents were butchered in Orissa and Churches across Karnataka were  vandalised, there were some murmurs of “ tch-tch this is bad” but if I remember no outrage.

* When threats and intimidation is  unleashed regularly on fellow activists fighting for similar issues in Gujarat or Chattisgarh the hypocrisy of the lack of outrage is glaring.

* When right wing terror gets exposed by intelligence and judicial agencies there is a carefully calibrated distance sought to be kept from the perpetrators but certainly no outrage at the act.

* Not just the RSS, but the Left is equally culpable on  this count.  Violence by CPM cadres on innocents is deftly deflected as a class war in the boondocks but there is no outrage.

* Terror strikes by Muslims jihadis on peaceful innocents will  never provoke the similar outrage from the Muslim community as compared to a cartoon  on the prophet Mohammed.

So, if we truly want to win this mother of all battles on the transparency and accountability front and we want to get all sections of society on the same boat to participate in this uphill and arduous war, then all players, must first and foremost condemn and be outraged by ALL forms of violence.

Violence is Violence is Violence! And Innocents are Innocents are Innocents! There can be  no categorization, no classification, no  compartmentalization of innocents and violence.

There can never be room for the skewed logic that often churns in our brain that goes. “ I will protest the violence on MY innocents but rationalize the violence unleashed on YOUR innocents”

The quicker the RSS / BJP and other political forces realize this fundamental truth of life, the easier it will be for the likes of Anna Hazare / Baba Ramdev to eventually  succeed for us.

Because when people of a civilization have to choose between the indignity of corruption and the violence  of the Hate groups they will always prefer the former with all its obnoxious hues ( read the Congress).

Because survival of the innocents comes first.  The indignity of corruption meanders along a distant second.

This is a truism for every believing  Hindu, Catholic, Muslim, Sikh or Buddhist. Even for the most hard core atheist in our land.

beautifully worded..... wish these words makes its way through the filthy brains of trouble brewing politicians... i feel the best way to channelize such horrendous incidences is to check for budding or further growth of political organizations based on religious views......and GOOD people like you actually needed to revamp the whole political scenario in the country. as the saying goes there are just two kind of people in world..... GOOD PEOPLE AND BAD PEOPLE...... irrespective of other discrimination's. So the Good people actually need to rise up NOW.... against the corruption.....

And we the people should remember -

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.
