Dear Navy, make it 100 kms…

There is a report in the local press that the naval authorities have dictated that any high rise project within a 20 km radius of the Dabolim airport, should be first scrutinised and mooted by the Navy.

As in a democracy, we need to resist any interference by the armed forces in the functioning of our society.

But as it is said in mission impossible: "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

The navy may have passed the order, for legitimate security reasons, but if the benevolent fallout of this diktat will be the cessation of the unplanned gargantuan monstrosities dotting GOA’s landscape, let us welcome it wholeheartedly.

Activists with meagre resources have barely been able to scratch the surface on this interminable problem of ours.

The Naval authorities should firmly state that single dwelling houses and bungalows of individuals will face no hassles whatsoever.

It is the high rise, quick buck, nonsense mushrooming in Goa that will come under the hammer and not be permitted.

So not just 20 kms, make it 100 kms…

Sensible Goans will welcome it.

And as for this wailing about the death of democracy, the Government must realise that, it died the moment the entire opposition waltzed into the ruling party.
