Of Elvis and Girish and Yatish and Valmiki

The farcical, illegitimate government that was thrust upon unsuspecting but completely complicit Goans is chugging on merrily with no direction and of course bereft of any moral compass.

And the wise and wonderful people of Goa are gnashing their teeth and spewing choice Konkani gaalis in the safe zones of their homes, tavernas and private spaces.

And of course the interminable and heart wrenching revolution to "save Mother Goa" is still cruising along ridiculously.

I've effectively switched off "Mother Goa" but of the little I read, I hear just four voices, mounting a genuine opposition challenge to the “Congress" government headed by a BJP chief minister.

The official Congress opposition elected and paid for by the tax payer dime will do a song and dance of faux opposition but will be in cahoots and doing backroom deals with the BJP either to feather their nests or keep them safe and away from the slammer at Colvale.

So in my not so humble opinion there are 4 POLITICAL voices who are genuinely attacking the government on policy. Most of their statements are of course buried in the inside pages of newspapers as too trivial and insignificant.

Valmiki and Elvis from AAP gamely are carrying on their thankless mission of keeping the embers of the revolution going, certain that the wise and wonderful people of Goa will continue to urinate on the residual fire and snuff it out.. But bravely they plod on.

The other duo is Girish Chodankar and Yatish Naik of the Congress. Committed, Convinced and Corruption-free... these are the only two unpaid Congress workers who are prepared to take the bull by the horns and call a spade a spade.

The reward poor Girish gets is of course a defamation notice, the most effective weapon in the BJP dirty tricks arsenal.

So now this is the point of my argument.

Never never in a million years will the wise and wonderful people of Goa allegedly yearning for a "revolution" support these genuine voices. They'd probably be thrashed in an election if it were held.

AAP will be lampooned and painted anti-national by all and sundry and not a single word would be articulated of the BJP unholy alliances and malicious anti-democratic agenda.

The passionate, genuine voices in the Congress will never be given prime position or even a ticket. And a Girish or Yatish would have to make way for a winnable candidate, and then end up defending the scum of the earth when the Congress comes to power.

So this is the tragedy of our times!

The wise and wonderful people of Goa simply don't understand how tough , thankless and traumatic genuine political opposition is, in Goa.

Everyone assumes it's a cheap picnic in the park. Fair game for slander and lampooning.

Unless we, the wise and wonderful people of Goa, realise that a revolution can never be outsourced and can never be won if we willingly, knowingly and gleefully side with the oppressors, nothing will change on the ground.

Or perhaps we were fantastically stupid that there was ever a revolution happening in Goa after all.
So now like good Goans, let's get back to fire our missives on social media and believe that the revolution is still alive.

Vive la revolution!!

AAP rightly said "Congress & BJP are like Husband & Wife".

Both fight with each other, but both love each other.

Both knows each other’s secret, but never expose each other in public.

I am hopeful that the Goans will join the honest people to fight to drive away the corrupt politicians.
