Fascism will consume the BJP first!!!

The recent spurt of Sahitya Academy awardees returning their awards left right and centre has left the BJP Government at the centre in a tizzy, even if they'll never admit it.

The prime reason BJP backers like Anupam Kher, Chetan Bhagat and others are mocking the awardees for their action is perhaps linked to the fact that no one knows which way the wind is blowing in Bihar.

So, the earlier you can get these hypersensitive writers and poets off the headlines the better.
But the BJP is making a cardinal mistake with respect to writers, poets and thinkers. This is a tribe that reacts with its heart, not its brains. And the reason they are taking this extreme step is because they genuinely feel their (and our) freedom of expression, indeed existence, is threatened under this regime.

Mocking this concern of theirs, instead of sympathetically addressing it, is going to be counter-productive to the BJP and the BJP alone.

And while we're on this issue, I still can't imagine why our supreme leader is so cagey in confronting Dadri.

Arun Jaitley and Manohar Parrikar have roundly condemned it but not our supreme leader. No one is blaming the central government for the incident. No one is asking Mr Modi to apologise (as the half-clever Chandan Mitra suggests).

All the people of India are asking is for the supreme leader of sab ke saath, sab ka vikas fame to CONDEMN the incident unequivocally without any hesitation. That of course is like climbing mount Everest backwards for any stalwart of the BJP and that is this country's eventual tragedy.

We have a leadership that may be doing some sincere work on the economy and foreign policy, but is incapable of seeing what is crystal-clear right and what is horrendously wrong and calling out the wrong instinctively, no matter what the political cost.
